What I have found is that stress can lead to overeating as well as emotional eating. Think about when you are upset; do you tend to overeat or eat unhealthy “comfort” foods to excess? Perhaps being in uncomfortable social situations triggers you to overeat. Attending a holiday party may have you reaching for more food than you intended.

What I have found is that one of the reasons that Reiki is so beneficial for weight loss and weight management is that Reiki treatments are inherently balancing and deeply relaxing. I consider Reiki to be an “intuitive” form of energy healing. As a receiver, all you need to do is simply “Be.” Sessions require that you “Do” nothing. The energy goes to where it is needed and it addresses the emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of your being.
On the other end of the spectrum is stress. When you are stressed, you may notice your muscles tightening and your breathing becoming shallower. Additionally, your body is in the “flight or fight” mode and this undue stress also causes your body to secrete excess cortisol.

Studies have shown that if you tend to store your fat in your belly, as opposed to your hips, you have a higher risk of developing cardiac-related diseases, like heart attacks and strokes. When you are under stress, you tend to make unhealthy food choices and often overeat.
